Beauty and Wellness – Hawaii-Style

Some of my favorite (and most unexpected) details during our stay at the Westin Maui revolved around promoting a healthy lifestyle. We are a pretty health-conscious family, and the hotel totally catered to our needs. From the Heavenly Beds (I snoozed like a log) to the Heavenly Spa (amazing massage FTW) to the WestinWorkout facility, the resort was on point.

The SuperFoodsRxTM menu was fantastic – steel-cut oatmeal, blueberry smoothies and fresh seafood were faves of ours.

My kids were all over the blueberry pancakes. Wito’s smile says it all, right?

Wita wouldn’t even give me a smile – she was too busy chowing.

The view from our breakfast table wasn’t so bad.

(Ridiculous, right?)

Later that day, I had the chance to get a massage at the Westin Heavenly Spa.

It was so, so good. The spa itself was incredibly relaxing (as it should be), but I found myself transfixed with all of the products. Surprise, surprise. Me? Into beauty products? Nah.

Leah Strohecker, Spa Director, gave me the lowdown on their best-selling products.

1. Farm Fresh Bourbon Bubbler Scrub “This brown sugar and gingersnap aroma scrub leaves skin ever so soft!  Your bathroom smells amazing afterward.” $34.50

2. Heavenly Spa’s exclusive “Hualani”  Body Wash -  “This local-made product smells of Hawaii with its Pineapple and Passion Fruit aromas.” $26.00

3. Eminence Organic Skin Care Tropical Vanilla Sun Cream SPF32 – “This sunscreen has a refreshing smell and increases hydration while protecting your face from those harmful sun rays.”  $80.50

4. Jack Black Face Buff “While this line is geared towards men, I love the menthol and vitamin C wakeup it gives my face in the morning.”  $22.00

Leah also had this to say in regards to her best beauty advice.

“Take time for yourself. Why? If you allocate an hour a day for you to do something that you enjoy, you will notice a difference in your energy, demeanor, and overall health. The activities could range from swimming to reading, meditation or anything that you are passionate about. Spend time on yourself as you are worth it!”

Amen, sista. Amen. All in all, I felt beyond rejuvenated during our stay.
