I had been doing well, exercising daily, eating right and losing weight. Then I went home to Chicago and ate. And ate. And ate some more. When I returned to Florida, my leg was riddled with blood clots, making walking very painful. Then I got a pulmonary embolism which made breathing difficult. Then school started up again and I was busy working and taking my kids to football and cheer practice every evening. As you might imagine, I’ve gained weight and am having a hard time finding a way to fit exercise back in my schedule.
When school resumes after winter break, a bunch of faculty and staff are starting a Biggest Loser competition. I don’t especially like exercising, but I do like winning and I think this little competition will be just the kick I need to get back into the workout groove. And I have a plan. Forget the boring workouts! With my Xbox 360 + Kinect, I have so much fun I don’t even realize I’m exercising! Playing Xbox games is the best way to work out because:
1. It’s less expensive than joining a gym.
2. You don’t have to make time to drive to a gym in traffic. It takes much less time to walk to your family room, basement, bedroom, or wherever you have the Xbox 360 set up.
3. You don’t have to exercise next to Ms. Sally Perfect with the size 2 butt who makes you feel like an uncoordinated cow.
Seriously, learn from my mistakes. You don’t want to have an experience like the time I learned that Bikram yoga is the devil. Working out in the privacy of your own home is SO MUCH BETTER than exercising with Satan, the sadist instructor and Ms. Sally Perfect.
