Best First Adjective

Happy.

That’s Jonas’s first adjective, which he chants as he runs around the house, or gets in some of his favorite manual labor (shoveling), or claps and shouts when he succeeds in linking to train cars together.

Hurray!  Choo Choo!  Happy!

It’s a fitting word for a boy who’s so cheerful (well, most of the time) that one of his sitters doesn’t believe he cries.

It’s even better when linked up with dance, both the word and the action, as in:  Dance!  (Shimmy shake, arm twist, hop, shake a little more.) Hap-eeee Hap-eee!

Or, when he sings along to You Are My Sunshine, but with just one word, his little head nuzzled against my neck at bedtime, smelling of chamomile and lotion.  Happy, la la la, happy.

Happy.

And he is.  And when he says it, I’m reminded of how we all are.  Blessed, and happy.
