Caramel-Apple Cider Cocktail

October ushers in a long season of varied holidays and reasons for gathering. Whether you’re hosting a football game—viewing gala or a Halloween blowout, it always helps to have a tasty cocktail (or mocktail) for the guests as soon as they arrive. This Caramel-Apple Cider is a fun play on the classic fall favorite and compliments many different finger foods. Pair this cider with anything from a simple plate of cheddar cheese slices and apple wedges to a platter of  Bacon-Wrapped Dates with Gorgonzola.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Caramel-Apple Cider Cocktail

Makes 4 drinks

Caramel-flavored ice cream topping, optional

2 cups apple juice

1 ½ cups apple schnapps

1⁄2 cup cranberry juice

1⁄2 cup bourbon

2 tablespoons caramel-flavored ice cream topping

Garnish: cinnamon sticks

1. Place a small amount of caramel topping in a saucer. Dip edge of glasses into topping. Let stand.

2. In a large pitcher, combine apple juice, schnapps, cranberry juice, bourbon, and ice cream topping. Garnish with cinnamon sticks, if desired.

 

Caramel-Apple Cider Mocktail

Makes 2 drinks

1. Prepare recipe as directed at left, omitting apple schnapps and bourbon.
