So, we did it. We did 24 hours of Disney. TWENTY FOUR. WHOLE HOURS.
Sure, there was a nap in there – for Emilia, anyway – and about four and half hours of flying time – how else do you get from Disney World to Disneyland in one day? – BUT STILL. 24 hours. Cross-country. We should get an award or something.
It went something like this:
4:30am: Wake up at Animal Kingdom Resort. Wash, brush, consume buckets of coffee (me) and orange juice (her). Make half-hearted attempt at starting packing, so that we’d be mostly ready for our afternoon departure. Give up attempt at packing in favor of DRINK MORE COFFEE.
5:00am: Disney rep picks us up and drives us to Magic Kingdom, takes us backstage so that we can circumvent crowd to get to media area to wait for the monsters. CONTINUE DRINKING COFFEE.
5:30am/6am/STILL TOTALLY DARK YOU GUYS: MONSTERS. CHEERING. 24 HOURS OF AWESOME BEGINS.
6am – sometime early morning: PLAY PLAY PLAY.
Sometime early morning to sometime late morning: PLAY PLAY PLAY.
Late morning-ish, I think: Street parade with monsters.
Noon? Maybe?: Lunch.
After lunch: Swimming. Florida is super hot, you guys.
Some time later after much swimming and Emilia winning a hula-hoop contest: Leave pool at Animal Kingdom Resort to pack. See giraffes.
Late afternoon: Travel to airport. Wait for plane. Get on plane.
Sometime super later, after time really has begun to lose all meaning: Land at LAX. Take shuttle to Disneyland.
Same time frame: Discuss merits of binge-watching Lost with Disney Channel actors. Did I mention that we were doing all this with Disney Channel stars? Do you watch Austin and Ally and Shake It Up?
11pm, which I totally took note of because this is when I started debating whether I was an awesome mom or a terrible mom for letting Emilia do this with me: Arrive at hotel. Drop bags. Leave hotel with guide to PLAY PLAY PLAY.
Later than 11pm TIME IS JUST A CONCEPT YOU GUYS: PLAY PLAY PLAY CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE PLAY PLAY PLAY DISNEYLAND.
1:30am TIME STAMP TOTALLY NOTED BECAUSE HOLY HECK WE STAYED UP FOR 24 HOURS OH MAH GAH: Back to Grand Californian. Into bed. “Can we do it again tomorrow, Mommy?”
FIN. (Until tomorrow, because, yes, we totally continued seven hours later.)
