Some mornings I get into the rut of making my kids the same old breakfast recipes. While I’m comforted by the fact that they love what I make them it can make me feel like I’m a lazy mom. The biggest issue for me is time. Between me not having a lot of it in the morning and the time it takes my little ones to eat (Kenya can nurse a bowl of cereal for what seems like an eternity), I have to make things that are reasonably simple, but still loaded with as much nutrition as possible.
Smoothies are also a great way to get your kids involved in the kitchen and experimenting with new flavors! Click through the gallery for smoothie inspiration, and when you’ve gotten the hang of mixing your own smoothies, then you can start making smoothies Your Way!

Berry Green Smoothie
My kids have been happily binging on green smoothies
lately -- helping me make them and tossing everything but the kitchen sink into the blender. I've been buying lots of fresh greens like spinach and kale, and tons of different frozen fruits for them to mix and match all sorts of flavors. I'm particularly psyched that they've been taking the lead in the recipe creation department because mommy has needed some new ideas.
