Flavors of Fall: Hot Buttered Rum (Cocktail Recipe)

There’s so many great things to love about fall including the foliage, crisp air, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and all the seasonal food and drinks! Pick up some natural apple cider this month and enjoy one of my favorite cocktail recipes!

Hot Buttered Rum

Makes 8 drinks

Prep: 25 minutes, Chill: 30 minutes

1⁄2 cup butter, softened

1⁄4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 (64-ounce) container natural apple cider

2 cups dark rum, Bacardi® Select®

Garnish: cinnamon sticks

1. In a small bowl, combine butter, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Place in the middle of a 12×12-inch piece of plastic wrap. Fold plastic wrap over butter mixture, and shape into a log, twisting ends to seal. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

2. In a large saucepan, heat cider over medium heat just until bubbles appear (do not boil). Remove from heat. Remove spiced butter from plastic wrap, and cut into 1-inch pieces. Add to hot cider, stirring to combine.

3. Ladle cider into mugs; top each with 1⁄4 cup rum. Garnish with cinnamon sticks, if desired.

Cheers to a happy, healthy home!
