Four Ways to Make Great Summer MemoriesAlli Worthington
It’s time to seize the summer!
Believe it or not, before you know it, fall will be upon us.
So go out there and make some memories with your kids. Don’t let those old mental memos that tell you everything has to be just right slow you down. Embrace the awesome that is the messiness of life with kids and have some fun.
It doesn’t have to be super complicated or involved. The best memories are about experiences, not elaborate plans.
Take my life, for instance: it wouldn’t look organized, my kids wouldn’t look clean and tidy, and I would not look pulled together if you were here in person, but I bet you would laugh with us and enjoy the fun. I think your life would look like that, too. It’s not picture perfect – it’s crazy and hard and fun and tiring and awesome all at the same time. Embrace the imperfect perfect and have a great summer.
Here are four ways to enjoy the little things and make this summer memorable.
1) Welcome unexpected summer visitors. Sometimes they are the most fun. I promise.
No one believed that hummingbirds really fly in my house. They do. Excuse the really bad video (I was trying to focus & balance the iPhone) and my super messy house. Remember: five sons.
2) Bubbles make every day magical. Someday your kids will be adults and reminisce, “Remember how when we were little we used to blow bubbles in the house? And Mom would yell, “DO NOT spill that on the carpet!” That.
3) Punch balloons are simply the world’s best toy for all ages. They supply an instant connection of fun and laughs across generations. Here is a scene from my boys and their Great-Grandaddy. See the instant joy?
4) Get outside and go to the park. I know, I know, it’s hot and you have that mulch to put in the flowerbeds. Sometimes (Often? Usually?) going to the playground on a hot day is as inviting as going to the DMV but just go. You’ll be so happy you did, you need more sunshine on your skin, the kids will sleep better and the pictures you will get from the swings will be amazing.
That is a great summer memory.
Then it’s time to save some of those memories with Wendy’s new scrapbooking app and share with Great-Grandaddy on his Facebook page. You can also upload only the great pictures that make your Summer memories look all perfect and wonderful if that’s your thing. Not that I would know anything about selective editing or anything.
