It’s spring! Time for a fresh look, you guys. When I think spring, I tend to think about bright colors. And this year, one of the best ways to wear color is with color blocks. Color block fashion has become one of the hottest trends for 2014. The definition is pretty simple: It means using two or more blocks of color in an outfit, or creating an ensemble by pairing blocks of solid color together. You can do it with a shirt, pants, skirt, dress, shoes, and even handbags.
It’s fun. It’s bright. It’s springy. It gives you new ways to combine clothes that you already have in your closet but have never worn together. Or an excuse to go shopping to brighten up your wardrobe … but do we really even need an excuse to go shopping? NOT HERE WE DON’T.
Just remember, you can’t be shy about color blocking. It’s not a subtle style … so experiment! Any combination of colors can be fantastic. All it takes is a little confidence to wear it. A few tips: Don’t combine more than three colors (four at the most) and never combine already color-blocked items. Too many colors looks busy and detracts from the style. Sometimes it’s even fun to wear a simple outfit and color block with the accessories. Try bright necklaces, shoes, or handbags paired with simple dresses or tops and bottoms.
What’s important is to have fun. You’ll be surprised how wearing bright, bold colors together can make you feel good about yourself … and bring out a little happiness in those who see you.
