Ghosts of Christmas Past...In Photos

granju photos mamapunditLike most mothers I know, I love taking photos of my children….lots and lots of photos of my children. This is especially true at the holidays, when my usual snap-happiness goes to 11, and I drive everyone in our family a bit crazy with my picture-taking.

However, as much as me constantly snapping all those photos may annoy everyone, I think that everyone in our clan would concur that actually having all of them is a real joy.

In fact, one of our favorite activities around holiday time is poring over photos from Christmases past. Since my youngest is only two years old and my oldest would be 21, our treasure trove of holiday pix includes everything from actual hard copy photos from the dark ages of developing-and-printing rolls of film right up thru various permutations of digital camera shots starting around year 2k or so up thru today. This year, I have been and will be snapping many if not most of my holiday pix with the nifty Samsung Galaxy camera that the nice folks at Samsung have been nice enough to let Jon and me try out lately. Thus, this year’s photos will certainly be of a far higher quality than any that have come before, and that’s something I am pretty psyched about. I also plan to shoot more Christmas video than I ever have before.

As I’ve spent the last few hours tonight looking thru all the boxes and photo albums and zip drives full of  years of holiday photos  tonight – laughing when I see some of them and crying a little when I see others –  I am reminded that you truly cannot ever have “too many” photos of your children. You really, really can’t. Trust me on this. I am so glad that I have taken so many photos over the years already, and I intend to keep snapping away this holiday season, and for all the ones I happen to be lucky enough to enjoy with my children – and eventual grandchildren – in the years ahead.

Here is a slideshow I’ve put together of some of my favorite holiday photos from Christmases past. While the quality isn’t so great on some(most) of them – and that’s especially the case when it come to the ones that I’ve scanned to digital  from physical prints – each and every one is precious to me.

Here’s the big takeaway from me here: TAKE MORE PHOTOS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON! (And be sure to read to the end of this blog post to find out how you can enter to win your own Samsung Galaxy camera to take all those great pix.)
