First off, I would like to point out that I am NOT a techie. I know enough HTML to get my blog posts done, and for the most part I’m more concerned with adhesives and baking supplies than I am with plug-ins and…something else technical, see I couldn’t even think of two things.
BUT I did figure out how to use Google Reader, and I love it. It helps me remember blogs I want to keep up with and it’s especially helpful when I need some inspiration.
So imagine how upset I was when Google announced that on July 1, 2013 they would be abolishing their RSS aggregator. That’s right, no more Google Reader! Now I’m sure there’s some other tech-savvy way to keep up with the blogs and sites I love, but I don’t have the time or mental energy to figure it out.
Enter my knight in shining armor: Feedly. I’m not even sure what happened, but I found it, I signed up and ALL OF THE SUDDEN all of my google reader subscriptions were there! I think I gave some sort of permission or something…it was late.
This is what it looks like, there’s a widget in my Chrome navigation, and a little button on my bookmark bar, AND BOOM! I’m set. It’s intuitive to use, and easy to navigate. So maybe there are better options out there? I’d love to hear about them. But I found this one first and I like it, so I probably won’t go to any more effort than that. Feedly also has an app for my phone, I haven’t used it yet but if I do I will report back!
Do you guys use Google Reader? Is there something else I should be doing? Do college kids still give each other mixed CD’s when they are dating? I KNOW NOTHING THESE DAYS!
Love and Donuts,
