Most people think that toy shopping for a toddler is a cinch, but it’s actually deceptively difficult. This is because, while toddlers love to open any present, there are very few toys that can keep their interest longer than a day or two. So what toys will be a hit with your toddler and not end up gathering dust in the corner? Here are three toys my toddler, Annie, still can’t get enough play time with long after she opened their boxes.
Baby Alive Baby Wanna Walk
Annie is a fan of baby dolls, but her absolute favorite is the Baby Alive Baby Wanna Walk Doll because she can teach it how to walk! In addition to walking, the doll says more than forty phrases such as “Look at me! I’m walking!” and “Hold my hands, please.” Annie does a lot of giggling when she plays with her Baby Alive doll, and never ceases to be amused by all of the things it says. What really amuses her the most, though, is when her doll falls over. “Mama! She fell down! Ha ha!” Funny, she doesn’t find it quite as humorous when she falls down.
Lalaloopsy Interactive Doll
Lalaloopsy dolls are said to have been rag dolls that magically came to life, and Annie loves hers because it looks unlike any other doll she has. What I love about it is listening to Annie try to say “Lalaloopsy.”
“Mama? Where is my La-la-la-la-la-loo-loo doll?”
In addition to the regular doll Annie has, there is a wide variety of other Lalaloopsy dolls and accessories including the first ever interactive Lalaloopsy which talks, sings, dances, and spins her hair! I have to say, these dolls are super adorable.
LeapPad 2 Exclusive Bundle
The one toy that Annie spends the most time with is her LeapPad, which is a learning tablet that inspires kids to develop important skills including reading comprehension, vocabulary, and word recognition. It’s fun to watch Annie operate her LeapPad because she can take photos and videos, create art, play games, and even take care of her own “virtual pet” without needing any help from me!
Since Annie is princess crazy we got her the Disney Princess bundle, which comes with princess sticker sheets, princess wallpaper for the Leap Pad you can customize (Annie chose Belle from “Beauty and the Beast”), and a carrying case with all of the princesses on the front. Annie loves it, and especially loves being able to be on her own age-appropriate tablet while all the adults around her are on their devices.
