There’s something about the buzz of bike tires, the wind in my hair, the birds chirping, the flowers blooming, the bees buzzing…
This is SPRING.
I just want to hop on my bicycle and ride down a flower lined dirt road. Lucky for me, I have a few to choose from, along with local beaches, parks and trails. No wonder I adore my bikes so. Yep, I have two bikes. One is a beach cruiser, and the other is a 3 Speed. I have commitment issues. I tend to obsess over how to make my bikes cute, and then I get bored and want to start all over again. Fortunately I have two great blank canvases for my bike-cessorizing.
My first bike is a bright turquoise Electra Townie with fat white tires and a large wicker basket. It was a treat that I obsessed over for many months. After a load of ardent pinning and pining, and some totally unsubtle hints, my husband finally got it for me for my birthday.
The second bike was a surprise gift/prize. It showed up with my name (literally) painted on it. How could I say no? It’s white frame is a blank canvas for me to decorate. I immediately got a basket and sewed a custom liner for this bike. Then I hunted high and low for just the right bell and I decorated the tubing with colorful stickers (see slide show for details about the stickers).
Having a cute bike makes the ride all that much more enjoyable. Kitting out my sweet bikes has been a labor of love. Here’s some of the awesome gear that I own, and some other items that I currently covet, so you can enjoy a sweet ride yourself this spring.
