Originally, my family and I had been planning on being away for the holidays: we were going to spend the time in England, my husband’s country, home of Dickens and The Christmas Carol. It was all planned out.
Then my husband learned that he wasn’t going to be able to get the time off at the end of the year. So we went at Thanksgiving, instead.
So this Christmas, we’re here in Houston. To be honest, we were slightly disappointed: Christmas in England does have a lovely ring to it. But a few days ago, on the spur of the moment, we decided to road trip to spend a couple of days with friends who live in central Texas. And I have no idea if this was God or the Universe conspiring to make us grateful, but it was a great reminder that Texas is an awesome place to be for the holidays.
And so, here’s what our very Texas week looked like. And it was awesome.
And on that note, happy holidays, sweet friends. May the season be filled with all the joy you can stand.
