Intro and an Invitation

Like many of you, I am headed to New York for Blogher. This exact time last year I was fresh off a plane from spending a week in Kenya with ONE learning first-hand about issues concerning extreme poverty. A few days after returning to the States I went straight to San Diego for Blogher 2011. I wasn’t quite ready for the big conference atmosphere last year. The contrasts between Kenya and the United States were palpable and too fresh.

This year I have traveled extensively to two continents and have been learning and writing more than ever about development and social good issues and am quite ready to spend a long weekend with 4,000 other women bloggers.

It is amazing how time flies and things change!

Today marks my first post for Babble Voices.  I am truly honored to write for Babble and to be among this amazing team of writers.

What will you find here?

Perspectives and Reflections will serve as a spot where my thoughts on various issues will lead to robust conversations between you and me. That is my sincerest intention for this blog. I want to hear your opinions about the things I write and opine about. I may write about issues concerning women, girls, and parenting, or weighty global issues that affect people who live in developing nations. I may simply blog about an idea that suddenly pops into my head or the latest headlines in the news. I may blog about really heavy topics. Other times I may blog about frivolous things. Whatever the subject, I will always give it great thought, reflect upon it, tell you what I think and then seek your opinion.  This is your journey as much as it is mine.

Talk soon!
