Hi all. The powers that be here at Babble tell me that this space exists so that you’ll get to know me better. Well then, let me introduce myself. I founded and run Alphamom.com.
Alpha Mom was started because, as counter-intuitive as it may seem, motherhood is not a natural instinct for many (many) women. This is something I discovered when I first became a mom and went through an intense period of “mother shock.” I was paralyzed with new mom fear. Full of questions. Rather than running to grandma, I ran to Google and there I learned that I was not alone.
Because of the name “Alpha Mom” people jump to conclusions and think I believe that I’m a know-it-all. Bwahaha. NOPE.
I may have found my sea legs, but I’m still full of questions, concerns, and doubts. (You should see the amount of pacing I do.) I believe that we can all learn from each other. And, what I know for sure is that there are no easy answers in parenting and we need to be flexible and that’s why I like to say I’m always in Beta.
I course-correct all the time.
Ultimately I have discovered that connectedness is a new mom’s first instinct and that she craves non-judgmental support and advice from other moms and parenting professionals. I do believe that we all need a tribe of other moms to help us navigate these waters. There will always be a mom in your group who either knows the answer– or knows how to get to the answer fastest– to whatever the parenting question of the
hour day may be. And, sometimes that mom may be you. Embrace that feeling of confidence because it’s sure to be fleeting. Your children will make sure of that.
I hope in this space to be able to share what’s on my mind, be it my thoughts on what’s happening in the news as it relates to parenting or working through a parenting dilemma that’s been irking me or you.
Excited to be here!
