Every month there seems to be a different conference going on and as a blogger, I attend many of them. I used to be very good at writing up recaps and sharing my pictures, but as one trip morphs into another, I haven’t had much time to keep up. I feel terrible when I realize weeks go by and I haven’t shared what I should.
Thank goodness for apps and smartphones. Now I can do brief recaps without having to download anything to my computer. I can even say good-bye to slideshows, which can be very time-consuming to create. Originally, I thought the new Disney Story app would only be useful and fun for my family memories but I discovered how easily it organizes and groups my photos by date, which means I can do a quick recap in just a few minutes. You can only add up to 20 photos or videos per “story”, but that’s more than enough to share a glimpse into your life, a trip or a special moment you just experienced.
Or in my case, take a look at my take on Mom 2.0 Summit. No, I did not gorge on junk food (although Katherine Stone was kind enough to offer a few potato chips while on stage) nor did I raid the mini-bar (it was actually empty), but I did get to see inspiring people. My personal highlight was meeting Paralympian and Shot@Life advocate Dennis Ogbe, whom I had the pleasure of introducing as part of the Global Voices keynote. Take a look:
A week later, I attended the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration and was able to see more friends and even more inspiring people. A picture is worth a thousand words so here are a few stories I created:
Someday I hope to finally catch up and do a write up of the actual panels and keynotes, but in the meantime, at least I have a visual conference recap that keeps the memories fresh in my mind.
Tip: How to embed your Disney Story in your blog post
Many friends have already downloaded the free Disney Story app but didn’t know how to embed their stories on their own blog posts. Here’s how. Just email yourself your finalized Story, click on the link and copy the embed code. If you’re using WordPress, just make sure to paste the embed code after selecting the “text” tab.
If you’ve also attended social media conferences lately and made your own Story, please share. I’d love to see your pictures.
