SHHH! Super Secret Key Lime Pie Made With COOL WHIP
I have a secret. Well, it’s not really my secret, but rather a certain pie maker who charges a lot of money for her seasonal creations.
Here’s the story:
A friend of mine, her father LOVES Key Lime Pie. He loves it so much, that every summer when the lady down the street makes these Key Lime Pies to sell, he’s willing to fork over $15 A PIE to savor it’s tart and sour yumminess. He buys at least 4 every year. When my friend told me this, I about fell over. I love Key Lime Pie just as much as anyone, but I don’t think I’d be willing to spend $15 for ONE pie.
For Father’s Day this year, my friend decided that she had to learn what was in this $15 pie her father adores so much so that she could make it for him. Since it’s a $15 pie, she assumed that it must be a complicated recipe and that the recipe search would involve many attempts. Having tasted it at least once a year for the past decade, her only clue when she began her recipe search was that she was sure the pie had COOL WHIP Whipped Topping as one of the ingredients.
She began her search with Google and discovered many recipes for Key Lime Pie with COOL WHIP, so she chose one with just three ingredients plus a graham cracker crust. Start simple, she figured.
In ten minutes, she combined an 8 oz. container of COOL WHIP, a 14 oz. can of sweetened condensed milk, and half a cup of bottled key lime juice in a bowl, mixing for a few minutes. Once thoroughly mixed, she poured it into a pre-prepared graham cracker crust and placed it in the refrigerator to chill. What she discovered will absolutely FLOOR her dad.
In one fell swoop, she discovered the $15 pie recipe, perfectly tart, silky, and delicious.
Initially she had planned to tell her dad about this discovery, that the pie is nothing more than three ingredients, easily made in less than 10 minutes and laugh at the part about him paying $15 a pie for all these years. But since she plans to make this for him on Father’s Day, she’ll keep the pie maker’s little secret.
Dad keeps his dignity in tact, the pie maker keeps her business, and everyone gets to eat Key Lime Pie. Not a bad deal, I’d say.

Absolutely shocked that someone is using this simple recipe and charging $15 A PIE!! I’d put her our of business by selling the EXACT same pie for $5 if I were you. Sorry, I guess that’s the former businesswoman in me talking, haha
