My husband and I will celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary this weekend. Between summer camp fees, vacation expenses, and some unexpected home repairs, we will be celebrating on a budget.
We went all out for last year’s 10 year wedding anniversary and took a vacation without the kids to the beach for several days. It was wonderful being able to get away, just the two of us. After our romantic getaway, we vowed to make date nights a regular part of every month. While we’ve tried to do just that, we have found that it’s difficult to not only make the time, but to afford regular date nights.
Here are a few ways that we’ve found to make dating affordable!

Swap Babysitting Duties With Friends
With our babysitter charging $10 per hour -- ouch! -- we can only use her services occasionally. We also don't have family nearby, so to keep our dates affordable, we regularly swap babysitting duties with other friends who are in the same boat we are. One night they'll watch the kids for us while we go out and we watch their kids the next time they need a date night. It's a great deal all around since the kids love getting to spend time with their friends!
