Every August there is a special day in the life of a gamer and today is that day.
The day when a new version of the popular football game Madden comes out. This year known as Madden 25 to celebrate the quarter century of play this great game has given us.
I usually have a standard rule that I buy this game every other year because most times there are not enough improvements every year to justify the cost. But, since this was a special anniversary edition and they were making such a big deal of it, I ran out to Best Buy this morning to pick up a copy.
The very first thing I noticed when I popped in the disc is that there is no big intro video as in years past. They usually do something pretty cool to get you pumped up for playing football, but sadly it was missing.
The game looks a lot like last year. After a few hours of play I haven’t really noticed anything stunningly different. Yes, it is beautiful and stunning, but last year looked just like this.
They have made running a lot more fun by putting more control in your hands. I also like having more control over my defenseman which is where I usually win my games.
My favorite thing to do is to play against other players online. I lost my first game, but a large part of this may have been due to the severe lag on the game. I thought maybe it was just my opponent, but a second and third game were also lagged filled which makes for a horrible gaming experience. I’m hoping this is a temporary thing and that whatever was causing it gets fixed soon.
Madden 25 is an awesome game and any fan will enjoy it.
IF like me you bought last years version, I don’t think there is enough reason to upgrade at this time.
My opinion might change after a few more hours and days of playing, but I wanted to share my first impressions immediately.
One final comment and a favor to ask all the boyfriends, girlfriends and spouses out there. If you have someone in your household who bought the game today, please allow them the time to play it. No need to get in a fight with them tonight as they scream at the television as they fumble on the goal line. Give them the time today to properly celebrate Madden Day and they’ll appreciate it.
