I heart Target on so many different levels. They offer the sweetest collaborations around, allowing me to get close to designers I dig but can never afford. The newest match up is no different. Target and Neiman Marcus? Yes, please.
I’ve been eyeing Derek Lam’s ingenious designs for quite some time. Michele Obama rocks out in his threads quite regularly. He symbolizes sophistication without stuffiness. Whether he’s working with silks or solids, his keen sense of style shines through. Like FLOTUS’ brilliant smile, Derek Lam’s work is infectious.
And now? He’s coming to Target with Neiman Marcus and it’s just awesome. Cooler still? He blings out a …wait for it….SKATEBOARD. Designer logo grip tape and die cut details all scream high fashion meets skate awesomeness. The thing is? It’s too darn pretty to use.
The deck is 31″ 7-ply Canadian maple. The hardware is all gold anodized. Look at those trucks. Baller! The wheels are red with white walls and are a size 52 MM. Even though my boys are the skaters around here, I’m thinking of making my entrance at the skate park in this piece of sweetness. And if that doesn’t work out, I’m totally hanging it on my wall.
The best part is that this skateboard comes in at a cool hundred bucks which is completely within budget for my holiday gift (to myself) to my kids. I love that Target has instituted a new rule to prevent people from snapping up too many just to resale for bucko bucks online. Customers are limited to five of the same item at a time. Items can be bought online or in stores at both Target and Neiman Marcus starting tomorrow.
Me? I’m totally on it.
