You might think a nice, normal family like mine would have plenty of time for a bowl of cereal first thing in the morning. YOU WOULD BE WRONG. Every morning, trying to get out the door on time is a goat rodeo. No matter how early I get up or how hard I try, those last 5 minutes are a hot mess.
For some reason, having time for a “good breakfast” is really hard for us, but also super necessary — and not just for the school year. We’re a swim family in the summer and those early morning practices make eating anything a real challenge. (By the way, a “good breakfast” is clinically defined as “not donuts” in my house.)
In any case, as a result of my family’s tendency to sleep in and then flail around, I have become an expert in somewhat healthy and inexpensive breakfasts that your kids can grab and eat on the way to school, practice, camp, or daycare. Let’s get started!
