It’s my daughter’s 6th birthday today and all she wants to do is arrive at school in the kind of formal wear that was once reserved for prom. I can’t blame her. Nothing says “IT’S MY BIRTHDAY” like an entire outfit that sparkles like a disco ball. But don’t get me wrong, sequins are still pretty special. It’s just that nowadays you don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars to get it….if you’re a KID that is.
I recently posted that Target is finally coming to Canada. And I have no doubt the Target brand will create some heat when it throws open its doors in the cold Canadian winter month of March 2013. A time when many Canadians are conquering the ski hills and hoarding maple syrup. But I’m sure Canadians will take pause when they finally learn what our American neighbour to the south has been enjoying all these years: Well made discount fashion that looks great and kids clothes that actually make kids excited. Yes Canadians will come in the thousands! They will toss aside their snow shoes, leave their igloos for the day, they will cast aside their non-watery beer and consider not eating bacon for the day! They will get “aboot” in their car and make their way to the nearest Target, foregoing the pull of winter sports and televised hockey games! Canadians will clammer to Target and the word “sorry” will be heard hundreds of times over as Canadian aimlessly bump into each other while marveling Target merchandise* There will be happiness in the air because Canadians are happy people who seriously love any signage that says “SALE.”
And what do we have to look forward to? Well considering the kid’s fashions are impossible to beat my daughter has selected a few of her favorites. Get them while you still can!
*We don’t live in igloos but it’s true that our beer is superior.
