5 Quick Beauty Fixes for Tired Mamas

By |

Let’s face it, there are definitely days when I feel like something the cat dragged in (the words “tired” and “mother” are totally synonymous, right?), but that doesn’t mean I have to LOOK IT. Nope, I’ve spent extensive time in my highly scientific laboratory (aka my bathroom) figuring out ways to cheat exhaustion and look downright chipper.

The most common complaints I hear from fellow mamas are as follows: dark undereye circles, a dull complexion, tired-looking eyes, dirty hair, and dry, chapped lips.

Well, I’ve got 5 products that I swear by when it comes to these issues, and they’re right after the jump.

  • Illuminating Concealer

Ladies, forget about that dried-out pot of concealer at the bottom of your makeup bag. You need a liquid concealer that blends effortlessly around the undereye area, as well as any other areas of the face that need luminosity. (Around the base of the nostrils, for starters.) I've been using Clinique's Airbrush Concealer for years now, and, let me tell you, it delivers. Not only does it mask dark undereye circles, but it softens the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Cream Blush

Dull complexion city? Cream blush takes me from looking and feeling like a tired, old hag to a much more radiant and dewy mama in seconds flat. You just can't replicate that youthful glow with a powder product- you need the dewiness of a cream blush. (Bonus - you don't need a brush to apply. Just use your fingers!)

  • Eyelash Curler

An eyelash curler instantly makes your peepers brighter and more alert-looking. Even if you don't have time to apply mascara, take 10 seconds and curl your lashes. It makes the biggest difference!

  • Dry Shampoo

When you have no time to wash those tresses, spray a little bit of dry shampoo in your hair, and say goodbye to the greasies. This works exceptionally well for 2nd-day (and 3rd-day, what? I'm just saying...) bangs.

  • Lip Gloss

When all else fails, and you truly have NO time to apply makeup, at least keep a sheer, punchy-colored gloss in your purse or baby bag. The right shade of lip gloss will instantly perk up your complexion. I love Kiehl's lip glosses for their moisturizing qualities and nice range of subtle colors.

THANK YOU SARAH! Only took me 16 months but I finally used my $100 gift certificate online at Saks. I wanted to get to $150 for free shipping and the Clinique Concealer got me there! I also got the Clarisonic Mia and the Nars Illuminator, so I guess I went a little over, but Happy Birthday Month to me! :-)

Dry shampoo is a great thing! I’ve used it many times, you just have to be sure not to use too much or you’ll have a white, powdery residue that almost looks like dandruff. Also, the Garnier skin renew undereye dark cirle roller works really good for less $, and has caffiene in it that helps reduce puffiness, plus it has concealer.

Sonja – you will love all three of those items! Happy birthday month indeed!

Heather – I will definitely check out the Garnier eye roller. Thanks!
