The Road to Healthy, Glowing Skin

By Sarah James |

There are several ways to create healthy-looking skin with cosmetics (foundations, tinted moisturizers, bronzers, primers, BB creams, to name a few), but I would be remiss If I didn’t write about how to create healthy skin the right way.

We’ll definitely touch on the above-mentioned cosmetics in future posts, but today I want to chat about what truly makes your skin glow, and that is taking excellent care of yourself. All the tinted moisturizer in the world won’t create the luminous look of a face whose body is happy and healthy. Here are 6 daily tips that I swear by for creating healthy, glowing skin.

Drink Green Smoothies

Just like the rest of your body, your skin thrives on vitamins and minerals. Green smoothies are a simple and fast way to get your daily recommendation of vitamins such as Vitamins A and C, and drinking one every morning will get your skin glowing in no time. Two of my favorites are the Glowing Green Smoothie and our personal family favorite, the Whoorlie.

I’ve heard about biotin for years. I’m inclined to give that, or maybe sea buckthorn (I’ve read that it might encourage your healthiest hair and nails). I eat pretty healthy already, but I like the idea of getting a little extra oomph from a supplement.

About the biotin – lozenges seems to be popular from what I can see. How are they on the “Tasty Index?” Tolerable?

My recommendation? Get plenty of sleep. Nothing makes me look more ragged than not getting enough rest.

Janette, absolutely! And since I work at at 6:00 a.m., that means lights out at 9:30 p.m. for me.

How much biotin do you take?

When I work out, I have to towel the sweat off so often that I hope there’s some kind of exfoliating benefit to that too. You are right on with your recommendations. Gotta look into Biotin, stat. Oh and the sunscreen. Being Latina, I never really thought it was important, which is just ignorant, I know. Now I have lovely brown spots on my cheeks from my last pregnancy. I don’t forget the suncreen now.

Liz and Sarah – I take a hair, nails and skin supplement from Trader Joe’s that has 400mcg of Biotin in it.
