The Best Workout DVDs for New Moms

So you’ve realized it’s time to whip that post-baby mama tush back into shape. Where do you start? Especially when you have a little one at home, napping the day away? What do you do? You buy some exercise DVDs, that’s what! Working out at home is the perfect scenario – when you get a a little block of time, just throw a DVD in the player and burn some calories. Just think…no one will be around to judge you when your boobs start leaking or you have a slight hormonally-fueled breakdown when you can’t do more than 6 pushups.

Of course, don’t start any of these exercise routines until you get the go-ahead from your doctor. Here are some of the most popular exercise DVDs for whipping your bod right back into shape.

  • Knocked Up Fitness – Prenatal Pilates 1 of 7
Knocked Up Fitness - Prenatal Pilates
I'm a huge fan of Pilates, and have personally used these DVDs with great success. Erica's workouts are easy to follow, and they tone you up in no time. The DVDs are great for pregnant moms, as well as the entire post-natal period and beyond.
  • 30 Day Shred 2 of 7
    30 Day Shred
This workout has become quite the phenomenon over the past five years. It totally kicks your butt, and I say that from personal experience! As long as you can get past thinking Jillian might actually want you to drop dead from the exercises, you're good.
  • P90X 3 of 7
    P90X
I have heard SO much about the P90X system lately. Have you tried this one? It uses a muscle confusion technique that accelerates the results process by constantly introducing new moves and routines so your body never plateaus.
  • Zumba 4 of 7
    Zumba
Dance your baby weight off with a little Zumba action. Maybe it's just me, but I imagine learning these dance-based exercises at home would be less embarrassing than in front of a room full of people.
  • Yoga for Beginners 5 of 7
    Yoga for Beginners
One of the best things you can do for a body that recently experienced the stress of late pregnancy and labor is to stretch those muscles! This DVD would be a perfection introduction to yoga, and has rave reviews.
  • Brazil Butt Lift 6 of 7
    Brazil Butt Lift
Well, this DVD makes me laugh just a little. Brazil! Butt! Lift! However, it is in the top 10 most popular exercise DVDs at Amazon, so it must be lifting some butts.
  • The Tracy Anderson Method – Post-Pregnancy Workout 7 of 7
The Tracy Anderson Method - Post-Pregnancy Workout
She's trained Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow, so I'm putting my money on this DVD.
