The Five Best Holiday Experiences at Disneyland / California Adventure

A trip to Disneyland is always magical, but combined with the spirit of the holiday season, it is even more spectacular. I have amazing memories of visiting Disneyland with my parents as a child, and I love that I can now visit with my kids. Disneyland’s tagline this season is that it “just got merrier”, and it’s true . . . the park is so festive right now that every inch is decked for the holidays.  Here are some of my favorite experiences at Disneyland and California Adventure during the holiday season.

    The Decorations
I've always been a fan of the giant Christmas tree on Main Street, and the snow-capped castle. But this year, Cars Land offered a new, fun twist on Christmas decor. The entire Cars Land area was done over for the holidays.

It's such a class ride, and the Christmas transformation, complete with Christmas songs, really is a sight to behold.
  • Christmas Fantasy Parade 3 of 5

I feel like watching the parade with my kids is always an epic memory, and seeing the Christmas version makes it even more magical.
  • The Haunted Mansion 4 of 5
    The Haunted Mansion
A haunted mansion ride may not be your first idea for holiday cheer, but since this ride was adapted to Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas, it has become a fun holiday tradition. The whole ride gets transformed for the holidays, all the way to those hitchhiking ghosts at the end.
  • The Candlelight Processional 5 of 5
    The Candlelight Processional
Growing up, my family paid a visit every year just to see the Candlelight Processional. This mass choir performs classic Christmas hymns, interspersed with scripture readings of the Christmas story. We had a chance to see it this year and it made me weepy. It's now open to the public, but you've got to get there early to snag a good spot.

Have you been to a Disney park during the holidays? What was your favorite part?
