The Holidays: California Style!

One of the greatest things about living in California is the diverse cultural resources and landmarks. But the seasons end up being a little… shall we say… different.

We don’t really have them.

What we lack in seasons, we make up for in being awesome. Sure, most of our lima bean-looking state is bereft of those weather patterns everyone on the East Coast is so fond of, but we still find ways to have a good time during the holidays.

This year we decided to do a beach walk in Northern California. To help me capture our time, we took the Samsung Galaxy camera. And as it turned out, we almost got swept away. So, that’s cool. We got it on “tape!”

Step One: Pretend It’s a White Christmas

Legit Christmas trees with ridiculous amount of presents? CHECK.

Step Two: Find a Rad Beach

I’ve been coming to this beach since… forever. We’ve taken three different dogs over the past three decades here to dip in the water. It holds a special place in my heart.

Step Three: Bring your Child

This photo may cause fallopian tube swelling and explosions. Use with caution.

Step Four: Inspect the Environment

My son Finn is a quality control officer for all of nature. He approves.

Step Five: Look for Evidence of Animal Inhabitants

Yep. Looks like we found some.

 Step Six: The BeachRiver Walk

We found magical creatures in tide pools, got wet in the process and became men that day. We braved the waters and survived to tell our tale. And most importantly, we lived to post it all on Facebook.

A big thanks to Samsung for sponsoring this campaign. Click here to see more of the discussion.

Would you like to win your own Samsung Galaxy Camera? Repin one of the photos from our “Holiday Memories + Moments” Pinterest board with the hashtag #samsungmemories for a chance to win, or upload your own photo onto your personal board with the hashtag #samsungmemories. And from there, we will pick the top twenty photos. Contest ends December 31st, 2012!
