The Top 5 Celebrity Couples Your Teenager Admires

When I was a kid I had crushes on couples. I loved the couple with the Afghan hound in my apartment building, and I loved Rhoda and Joe on my television.

I admired Frankie and Ava, Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, and Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter. I admit I’m not too current — it seems my knowledge of celebrity couples dropped off somewhere around Kevin Bacon and Tracy Pollan and Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick and Tracy Pollan and Michael J. Fox.

So I asked my teenage daughter to poll her friends regarding the current celebrity couples her friends admire. These are the results:

  • Shall we? 1 of 6
  • Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield 2 of 6

These two met and fell in love while making The Amazing Spider Man. According to Andrew, when Emma arrived for her screen test, "It was like I woke up." Previous girlfriend, actress Shannon Woodward, apparently got the sleeping Andrew.

Why they're admired: Andrew and Emma do all kinds of romantic things together, including keep their relationship private.

  • Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler 3 of 6

First of all, who? I had to look both of these humans up in an esteemed research library known as Google. And oh for goodness sake, she's from High School Musical. He's an actor and musician and oh yes, also starred in High School Musical

Why they're admired: Vanessa and Austin do all kinds of romantic things together, including talk incessantly about their relationship very actively in public.

  • Beyonce and Jay Z 4 of 6

Ah. Falling back into my comfort zone here. Jay Z and Beyoncé met when she was still a teenager in 2003 contributing velvety backing vocals to the rapper-written Bonnie & Clyde with Jay Z, and he called her B. They prophetically sang of a realized life together. "Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be."

Why they're admired: They give each other room to pursue their own professional success, while clearly informing each other's path. They're cool, but also parents. They remain above the fray, although dig deep to act as political advisors to a generation of kids who need to become involved.

  • Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel 5 of 6

They met as friends. Jessica Biel used to be Jessica Biel, but now she is Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, which makes me like her. That is the degree to which I trust mega talent Justin Timberlake, who can sing, act, joke, dance, and, now, husband.

Why they're admired: Because Justin Timberlake is humorous, serious, dedicated, playful -- and he loves Jessica Biel.

  • Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis 6 of 6

They met on the set of That '70s Show. They work so well together because Mila is not that crazy Demi Moore. Their jeans are the same degree of faded. They wear a lot of blue.

Why they're admired: They're both super smart and sexy and successful. And neither of them is Demi Moore.
