Some Memories Deserve More Than a Phone Picture

By |

I’ve grown far too dependent on my iPhone to take photos. I know that saying – “the best camera is the one you have with you” – but there is still no doubt that better cameras take better pictures.

Even so, the last couple of years I’ve failed to break out the “good” camera to snap photos of our holiday activities like, of course, decorating the tree.

This year is becoming a bit complicated for my family; my mother, who lives with us, is in the hospital. I’m very worried about her; they are having trouble pinning down what’s wrong and at this point I’m not sure she’ll be home for Christmas.

Sigh.

But we are doing the best we can to keep things festive for my daughter (who is six; sandwich generation is tough!), and luckily we bought our Christmas tree before my mom went into the hospital, so we got to decorate it together. This time, I DID break out the good camera.

Naturally, my daughter put the star on top of the tree. Here she and my husband discuss strategy.

Then, he lifts her up (I just love that her tongue is sticking out here).

Success! I know it’s crooked, but so are we.

It doesn’t seem like there are many moments in our house anymore that pass without my wife grabbing the camera and snapping a few shots for us to look back on in later in life–just as it should be.

This is so true – it is worth gettting out the good camera. I hope your mother feels better!

  3. ZZiTaN Major thankies for the article. Great.
