When I finally got pregnant with my daughter, one of the best gifts I got at my baby shower was my very first DSL camera. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing with it, frankly, and my Flickr stream became filled with thirty of forty shots in a row of pretty much the same thing over and over again.
I have an utterly epic photo shoot of my daughter in an exersaucer.
Ironically, years later, I have several DSLR cameras but my main camera is, sadly, my iPhone. It takes really good photos, actually – better than my first digital camera.
But there are times, in fact, when I need something better than a phone camera, but don’t want to haul around my clunky (isn’t it funny, how perspective changes!) DSLR with its giant lenses.
That’s where the Samsung Galaxy Camera steps in.
Frankly, it’s the most innovative camera I’ve ever seen. I’m not being dramatic when I say that; it’s completely different. Instead of a camera full of photos you have to download, you can upload them directly wherever you want them with the camera. More than that – that’s not really new, after all – you can send them to Instagram.
Yes, with your CAMERA.
Basically – and this is a crude definition – it’s a digital camera with a Droid smart phone slapped onto the back. Yes, it operates exactly like a smart phone – without making actual calls, of course. But you can upload any Droid app that you want and use the camera just like a smart phone.
Best of all, it takes great pictures. It works great in low light, it shoots sharp video – everything you want from a digital camera. Plus, it’s beautifully compact, has a nice weight to it, and is simply gorgeous.
I’m in love.
I can’t wait to use it as we ramp up to the holidays. It’s my new favorite camera. Check out the video below so you can see what I mean!
