The White Sands White Party at Mom 2.0 Summit

Three weeks ago exactly, the Mom 2.0 Summit kicked off with a kicking White Sands White Party. It was pretty darn amazing…and I can say that because I had minimal amounts of anything to do with the fact that it was amazing. Sure, I’m one of the (many) people who puts on Mom 2.0…but besides doing a walk-through, taste-test, nod-a-few-times-and-say-yep site visit last July, I just stayed out of the way and let my partner Carrie run with this. She teamed up with LG Electronics and Honda (who both did amazing jobs and were really great to work with…I highly recommend teaming up with their teams of talented people when throwing a party.) And together, they created an exceptional evening.

Sure there was some pre-event angst about wearing white (especially from New Yorkers, I must say), but everyone was simply glowing, and the event was surreally luminous as well.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from that evening (Most of these were taken by one of my favorite photographers, Michael Cummings. Also, he once saved a man from a burning car. True story.) …

A giant man (on stilts) greeted everyone as they joined the party. He was a little freaky. And completely awesome.

This glamorous Mom 2.0 White Party was also sponsored by LG LG who treated guests to amazing food, drinks, chair massages, and more...challenging guests to think how they'd spend 20 minutes of extra free time they'd get using the new technology from LG. Smart.

So, like I said, when you entered the party, you were greeted by this guy...

    The Evening Light in White
As the evening wore on, guests moved around the five (5!) party areas. Most ended up in the Dunes area...white sand at our feet. It was a good time to ditch the shoes.

And There Was Food, Marvelous Food
There were food stations throughout the venue featuring cervice, fancy sliders, and a million kinds of vegetables and seafood excellence. A million might be a little bit high, I'm rounding up. It seemed like a lot and it was everywhere.

Here I am posing with the two lovely ladies from RedRover App. They're from NYC...and they're wearing white. The evening proved over and over again that Manhattanites do wear colors other than black.

There's this misconception that people don't look good in white. FALSE! Everyone at the event was simply radiant.

Austin Ladies Hit the Road and Check Out Hondas
These two smart ladies came from Austin to Miami for the fun. Then they checked out this CRV and they were never seen again. (Just kidding, they were seen again.)
  • WINNERS! 11 of 14
    WINNERS!
LG's CMO James Fishler gave away an LG TurboWash Washer & Dryer pair as well as the LG TrueSteam Dishwasher. Emily McKhann from the Motherhood was one of the lucky winners.

Then this guy started breathing fire. Or eating fire. Possibly both. (Laurie White took this fine photo)

Carrie (on my right) and Marla (on my left) are the people to thank for making this party happen. They are really good at throwing parties.

A Sun Sets on a Perfect Night
It was just the start of Mom 2.0...and a very very good start it was.

Were you there? Have you seen other photos out there that I’m missing?

If you weren’t there, we totally missed you…and I hope you’ll come next year. I just got word about what we’re Carrie’s planning, for 2013, and it’s pretty freaking awesome.

But in the meantime, I’m thinking it might be fun to throw my own version of a White Party this summer…but then, it would be an Austin White Party…which would be something like hippy meets hipster meets cowboy. That might be weird. Much less glam than the Miami version. In fact, just thinking about it makes me laugh. If I throw it, will you come?

Next week I’ll be caught up enough on sleep to talk about the actual content and speakers at the event, the aesthetically pleasing Miami Beach party at the Versace Mansion, the new things I learned at the conference (and about throwing a conference), as well as a shout-out, look-forward to the Media and New Media Conferences I’m looking forward to this Summer.
