It’s such a positive feeling to see a child’s eyes light up when they receive a new toy! I can still remember a few of the top toys from when I was a child. Remember the Lite-Brite circa the 1980s? Once I ran out of all the pictures they included, I would cut black construction paper to fit. The little lights also made great “popsicles” for my Barbie Dolls. There are so many gifts I wish I’d kept now: the Spirograph, my Cabbage Patch doll, and my horse-themed Trapper Keeper (so rad!).

So what’s hot for this year?

I did a survey of my friends to see what their kids were asking for and did some reconnaissance while out shopping. Lite-Brite wasn’t on anyone’s list, but I have rounded up some of the hottest toy trends for boys and girls right now. Maybe a few of these are on your child’s Christmas list … or maybe your kid is like mine and didn’t give you much direction. She even hid her Santa letter from me! I can never go wrong with items that are artistic though … like the Crayola Digital Light Designer. I would love that too actually.

So without further ado…
