Top Ten Movies I Wish My Kid Could Have Seen in the Movie Theater

For some reason I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how awesome things were when I was a kid. Sometimes all this technology, high-tech, crazy stuff just feels like too much. Or at least it feels like too much for my kid.

When it comes to movies, modern technology floors me. Modern story lines floor me. Modern graphics floor me.

And I won’t lie. Sometimes I really miss the simplicity that children’s blockbusters were twenty or thirty years ago.

So, I made a list of the ten movies I wish my kid would have seen in the theater. Back when such movies, artwork, and effects would still have been as awesome to him.

Sadly, I’ve tried showing some of these movies to my kid on our smaller-than-life television. They just aren’t as action-packed, graphically crammed, and attention-grabbing as what he’s used to. And I guess that’s just how technology goes.

What movies from your childhood do you wish your kid could watch on the big screen?

  • The Labyrinth 1 of 16
    The Labyrinth
Amazing puppets. Robots. And dudes in suits. All of it was so fake, but dang it seemed so real back then. Plus ... David Bowie. I mean, come on.

The giant rock guy was so amazing on the big screen. On a small screen it just looks like the puppet that it is.

    Flight of Dragons
I'm surprised how many people never saw this when they were kids. I lived for this movie and still remember being awed by the artwork even at such a young age.

Also a Disney great. The little alien pets (for lack of a better term) on board always had me wishing I could be on that spaceship.

Beethoven the dog was larger than life, and his hilarious mischief could only be fully appreciated on a screen as big as he was.

Honestly, not having this movie in the theater is the number one reason I feel sad for kids in this day and age. Talk about the ultimate misunderstood villain mixed with team spirit and a common goal.
