VIDEO: How to Get Buttery, Blurry Backgrounds While Keeping it Simple

How do you get that buttery, blurred background without spending thousands of dollars on lenses or endless hours in photoshop?

We could talk about Aperture, Depth of Field, and all those other technical terms.  As you grow in your love for photography, it may make sense to dive into the technical definitions more.  I’ve even got an award winning DVD series for those of you who are ready to jump into the technical settings today!  But do you want to know one of my favorite, keeping it simple, tricks?

If all you have is a kit lens (the lens that came with your camera), here is how you can still get buttery, blurred backgrounds.

The closer you are to your subject, the more blurred the background will become.  The farther you stand away from your subject, the more detailed the background becomes.  (when using your kit lens)
