Video: Inspiring Young Children to Tell Their Stories

I decided to record the presentation I made to 497 K-3rd grade students at the beginning of April if for no other reason than to prove to myself that I really did it. I also wanted to see how many kids were actually paying attention and how many were picking their noses. When I came out and wrote about talking to the kids a few third grade teachers (as well as my mom) asked if there would be video of my presentation so I figured “Hey! Why not upload it?” So I did.

Sadly the video camera died before I was done speaking and there were some pretty serious technical difficulties (which I turned into a few lame jokes) but overall I think it went well. A few reports came back that at least some of the kids loved me which was amazing. Later that same day (after writing my original post about speaking to the school) I went back to have lunch with Addie.

I was a celebrity in that school for one day and it was awesome.

I was really concerned about embarrassing Addie, I mean, the entire school was looking at both of us. When I asked her if I did okay she said I did amazing and then she kissed and hugged me in front of the WHOLE SCHOOL. Savor that moment while it lasts, mama because those aren’t sticking around forever.
