What Lunch at the American Girl Store in NYC Is Really Like

Lunch at American Girl store in New YorkMy little American girl sometimes seems way older than just eight years old, which makes me a bit anxious and drives me to create as many priceless “kid” memories as I can. On a recent trip to New York City, I decided the time had come to have lunch together at the American Girl store, before my daughter decides she is too old for that. After traveling so much this year, I felt my daughter and I really needed one-on-one time.

On a whim, I called to make a very last-minute reservation. The American Girl website showed no availability for Sunday, but the customer service representative over the phone was super helpful and squeezed us in. Each day they have breakfast, lunch, tea, and dinner at specific time slots and offer a fixed menu.

I didn’t know what to expect and actually had very low expectations about the food. I was beyond surprised to discover the menu and food were great. The best part is that we didn’t have to take my daughter’s doll from Miami to New York because they let her borrow one for lunch. We had sticky cinnamon buns, followed by a vegetable and cheese platter and had many options we could choose from for our main course. My daughter picked the pizza, which to this day she says is the “best pizza in the world,” while I decided to be healthy and picked the quiche and salad. However, the burgers we saw looked unbelievable and I was desperate to try one. Dessert was a delicious assortment of chocolate mousse, cake, and fruit.

Take a look for yourself; you can get a glimpse of our lunch at the American Girl store in New York City right here:

Would I do it again? If my daughter wants to, definitely yes. But next time, I am having the burger.
