What to watch on Netflix right nowAlison Faulkner
During my pregnancy (I had my lil man 2 weeks ago!) I watched a lot, I mean A LOT of television. I don’t even feel bad about this because numbing my mind was basically the ONLY way I could survive.
We don’t have cable, but we DO have a Netflix subscription. I know how it can be to spend endless hours surfing for WHAT to watch instead of watching something, so I thought I’d share some of my recommendations!
Freaks & Geeks: There are only two seasons of this FANTASTIC show. If you haven’t watched them yet, I’m really not sure what you’ve been doing. I recommend this to ANYONE. Male, female, cynic, sap, anyone.
The IT Crowd: This is a british comedy with a fairly twisted sense of humor. There is a laugh track, which is odd for any modern comedy and might throw you off a bit. But if you’re into the BBC you’ll love this one.
Vampire Diaries: Yeah I know, I’m absurd for loving this show. But I really, really do. You can watch the first 3 seasons on Netflix and catch up on the fourth season on Hulu. If you like a good melodrama/teen romance you’ll get sucked in. HA! Sucked in.
The Queen of Versailles: This is a documentary about one of the wealthiest families in America, BEFORE and AFTER everyone lost their money. It is fascinating and very well done, and I’d be shocked if you don’t love if not respect the Queen herself (fake boobs and all) by the end of it.
The Giant Mechanical Man: This is a slower paced thoughtful film, but it’s quietly funny as well. If you’re into that, you’ll really like this. Topher Grace is awesomely horrible in it, and Chris Messina (who I now love so much because of The Mindy Project) is lovable too.
Wild Target: I might be the only person who likes this movie? But I NEVER get sick of it. Emily Blunt is your typical manic pixie dream girl type, but the older assassin who falls in love with her, is so sexy and sweet I just die. It’s pretty twisted but I love it.
What to Expect When You’re Expecting: I thought this movie looked SO DUMB when I saw the previews. But I was forced to watch it one night by my sister and I fell in love. If you need a mindless comedy this one is pretty great, and it shares a ton of the cast of Pitch Perfect.
Hunger Games: I mean, you know what it is, I’m just letting you know it’s on the Flix now.
Roller Boogie: I’m not even going to explain. I’m just going to point you to my ODE TO IT here.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off: When is the last time you watched this movie? I mean REALLY watched it. It’s such a treat!
A League of Their Own: There’s no crying in baseball.
What’s Eating Gilbert Grape: Oh Johnny Depp. How do you do what do? And do it so well? This is one of my favorite Depp films, and I love them all.
Lost In Translation: This is another one of my all-time favorite movies. I really like Sofia Coppola films, and if you haven’t made time to see this, do it.
Ok! That should be enough to get you started! Now you tell me, what should I be watching on Netflix?!
