I have spent a shocking amount of my life watching television. That is just true. If you wanted to get specific I have actually spent over 100 hours watching “The West Wing” alone. Make that over 200 hours if you are talking about ESPN, and damn near a decade watching MTV.
Remember when MTV used to play music videos? That was awesome.
But I don’t want to talk about sitcoms and dramas and more specifically TV moms.
Clearly I am disappointed because Abigail Bartlet didn’t make the list, but to be fair the mothers that did make this list are powerhouses. Check them out.

Claire Huxtable 1 of 10Phylicia Rashad played Mrs. Huxtable like a boss. She was smart, she was funny, she was beautiful, she was loving. She had a career as a lawyer and five kids. Claire Huxtable had it all.
Roseanne Connor 2 of 10Sure, Roseanne Barr has a grating voice but we all loved that show. Or at least we loved it until they won the lottery, then it got stupid.
Marge Simpson 3 of 10The Simpsons is the only non-sports related show that I have watched on a regular basis for over 20 years.
Maude 4 of 10...and then there's Maude.
Carmella Soprano 5 of 10I don't think I would want Carmella Soprano to be my mom, but Edie Falco played the shit out of the matriarch on one of the best television dramas of all time.
Laura Petrie 6 of 10Mary Tyler Moore is good at everything.
Carol Brady 7 of 10Carol Brady has got to be one of the front runners in this race. You know, I don't think I ever saw Carol Brady lose her shit and her children got into so many shenanigans! I think I need an Alice.
June Cleaver 8 of 10June Cleaver is such a famous mom that she has become a verb. I have said "I totally June Cleavered today."
Marie Barone 9 of 10Marie was one of the best parts of Everybody Loves Raymond.Doris Roberts is hilarious.
Marion Cunningham 10 of 10Aw look, she even let Richie's friends be in the family portrait. Mrs. Cunningham really is a good mom.
If you were wondering who was up for best TV dad: Cliff Huxtable (The Cosby Show), Howard Cunningham (Happy Days), Dan Conner (Roseanne), Eric Taylor (Friday Night Lights), Mitchell Pritchett (Modern Family), Al Bundy (Married With Children), Ward Cleaver (Leave it to Beaver), Cameron Tucker (Modern Family), Jim Anderson (Father Knows Best) and Andy Taylor (The Andy Griffith Show).
