Winterize Me: 10 Things That Help Me Survive Fall/Winter

The crisp Fall air has really kicked in here in New York.  Here are 10 things that I do to keep cozy and usher in this Fall/Winter season.

  • HEATTECH from Uniqlo 1 of 10
    HEATTECH from Uniqlo
I love the HEATTECH line from Uniqlo. The clothes are heat generating, and it totally works. I have some shirts for layering but have my eye on this turtleneck.
  • Nesting Cardigan 2 of 10
    Nesting Cardigan
My Mother-in-law was so sweet to buy me a "nesting cardigan" for Christmas last year as she knew I was working from home and thought this could be useful and warm. You guys, I wear this thing everyday at the computer, and I just love it! Everyone needs something like this. (She got this one from Eddie Bauer but unfortunately it's not longer available.)
  • Hot Chocolate Maker 3 of 10
    Hot Chocolate Maker
Danny had one of these when we got married and it really is the best thing ever. It heats the hot cocoa to the most ideal temperature...and it even makes froth!
  • Winter Leggings 4 of 10
    Winter Leggings
I didn't even know there was such a thing as "Winter Leggings" but these things from American Apparel keep me warm on my walks in the park! (Though FYI, I saw them cheaper here on Amazon...)
  • Cozy Throw 5 of 10
    Cozy Throw
I use this cozy throw practically year-round. I almost always have one around me at the computer or while watching a movie. These are a fall/winter must have!
  • Soup 6 of 10
    Soup
It's just the two of us, so sometimes we don't cook full blown meals, especially for lunch. So I pick up some containers of soup from Hale & Hearty and they provide the perfect lunches during the week. (We both work from home :)
  • Warm Boots 7 of 10
    Warm Boots
There is nothing better than warm, cozy boots on a cold day. Around the house, I actually wear some vintage Uggs from Australia (no socks needed. I just wear them like slippers). And then for outdoors, these vintage boots by Tecnica would be so great.
  • Jersey Knit Sheets 8 of 10
    Jersey Knit Sheets
Have you guys ever slept with some of these?!? Danny had a set of jersey knit sheets when we got married and they are AMAZING. We pull them out every fall/winter because somehow they are as warm as can be (think flannel instead of cold sheets) but they are also the softest things ever. I just love them.
  • Chili & Pie Cook-Off 9 of 10
    Chili & Pie Cook-Off
The Chili & Pie Cook-off at the Mormon church in Brooklyn is one of the coolest events of the year. The community comes out and it's ridiculously competitive. (It takes place on Court Street. If interested, let me know - NOTE: This invite is an old one!)
  • Squash! 10 of 10
    Squash!
Danny and I live on squash in the fall/winter. Butternut, Spaghetti Squash, Acorn Squash, Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Pumpkin, etc. We mostly make soups, roasted vegetables, and one of our favorite meals ever, zucchini ribbon pasta.
