Meaning: crooked nose
Origin: Scotland
Alternate spellings: Camren, Camron, Kameron, Kamren, Kamron
Cameron is one of those names that might lose a little something in the translation. It comes from the Scottish surname of a clan headed by a leader with a “crooked nose,” (cam, for crooked and sron for “nose.”) Fortunately, there’s another possible origin. The Persian name Kamran means, “fortunate.”
The name rose in popularity in the mid 1980’s, perhaps due to the last name of a certain TV star? (See #1.)
