10 of My Foster Kids' Favorite UNICEF Toys

Who knew that UNICEF made their own line of kids’ toys? One day after a conference in New York’s UNICEF building, I wandered around their gift shop to kill time. I came upon the expected greeting cards and handmade place-mats from far away lands; however, I was really surprised to find UNICEF toys that replicated life as an aid worker. There were miniature versions of the infamous United Nations SUVs, village school houses and even a giant UNICEF airplane. I snatched up several items for my foster kids.

The UNICEF soft school house (no longer made) is always the first thing parents ask me about when the walk into our home. Kids too flock to the UNICEF toys and they love playing “helper” and “helpee.” Below is a list of the most popular UNICEF toys in my house at this time:

    New from UNICEF, we haven't tried this one yet but it looks like fun. First solve the jigsaw, when that's done, flip the whole thing over to reveal an outline print to color in with the pack of pencils provided.

If you’re ever in New York, visit the Danny Kaye Visitors Center at UNICEF House to learn about UNICEF’s work and history. The exhibit is free and is  located at 3 UN Plaza on 44th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues.
