Baby Peony turned six months old last week. And it has been a wonderful life so far.
That being said, we’ve had a rough few months. She’s had three ear infections since the end of December. And we’ve traveled a bit, too, which has meant further disruptions in her nap and overall sleep schedule. She was a good sleeper, and then she wasn’t. Just like that.
It’s been rough (on me, anyway).
Starting a few weeks ago, after a few months of varying nighttime interruptions, like pacifier cries, the need for Mommy’s arms cries, the need for Mommy’s boob cries, and the “hey! I’m up! what are we doing?” noises, she start going to sleep at 6:30 p.m. and waking up at 5 or 6 a.m.
And then last night she seemed super tired at 5:30 p.m. so I put her to bed. And guess what? She still slept straight through until 5 a.m.! After I nursed her this morning she went back to sleep until 6:30 a.m.
I know stuff changes. We’re going away at the end of this month, and then less than a week later we’ll be going away again — and both places are in different time zones from where we live, and in different time zones from each other. I’ll do my best to at least keep her nighttime routine the same to the extent that I can. But there seems to be some hope that she is really settling into a doable night (and morning) routine. Which just goes to show: if you build it, they will come. Hallelujah!
Her napping schedule isn’t ideal, mostly because she has to get schlepped around to the tune of her older sister. But sleeping nearly 12 consecutive hours at night? I’ll take it!
