15 Photos From A Weekend in New York CityCasi Densmore-Koon
As a Mom of a large family I think it’s really important to make sure you take time to make all of your children feel special. Especially with a new baby. It’s important to make them feel loved and wanted even if most of your time seems focused on your infant. I try and have special dates or go fun places to make sure I have a one on one with each of my girls. Especially since Grayson was born I think it’s important as life gets busier to make sure they feel just as loved and appreciated it. Just a few weekend ago, for the very first time I took my older girls — Zoe (10), McKenzie (6) and Kennadi (3) on a very special overnight weekend get-a-way to The Carlyle. My Mom and Grandmother came along to share the experience with us since it was the very first time the girls have gone to New York City. They were amazed. Sometimes speechless. It was so fun to see them non stop smiling, not a care in the world.
The Carlyle in itself is a vacation. It’s charming, very Old Hollywood and just an amazing place to stay when you’re in the city. I can’t wait to go back. We were luck enough to be visiting during The Sophie Experience. Perfect for little girls, when we arrived in the beautiful suite overlooking Central Park, we were greeted with signed copies of Kelly Florio Kasouf’s book “The Super Adventures of Sophie and The City: All in a Day’s Work” and her latest book “Grand Central Escapades” along with specially designed “Sophie” cupcakes from Magnolia’s Bakery. My girls couldn’t get over the “Sophie” pillow designed by Matouk that greeted us on the bed. They were so excited to keep it as a souvenier. If we didn’t have plans at the American Girl store, we would have never loved the breathtaking suite. My girls were even loaned an iPad Mini during the stay so they could follow Sophie’s Virtual Tour to her favorite NYC spots. Seriously? If only they had this when I was a kid. It was such an fun experience to be in New York with the girls, I just had to share our special time with you! I even got to have dinner with Babble’s very own, Andrea Zimmerman. And let me just tell you – she is just as amazing in real life. It was so much fun to meet her since I work from home, I don’t get to meet those I work with everyday and it was so much fun! I wish I could be in the office with her everyday.
Not only was it a great break from my everyday life as a mom of 5, but it was such a fun experience to take my oldest girls to New York City and do something special for them and as a good reminder that they are just as special to me as Grayson.

Miss McKenzie 3 of 16
When we arrived to The Carlyle McKenzie took a look around our beautiful suite and said, "Mom, I just want to sit here and take it all in for a minute." Sometimes the thoughts that come out of her mouth amaze me. I cherish this moment and photo so much.

We had an amazing time at the American Girl cafe. I have to tell you, it was such a great experience and I think I enjoyed it just as much as the girls. American Girl goes all out to treating you to a delish four course meal. The girls loved lunching with their dolls too!
Miss Kennadi 8 of 16
It's hard to believe Kennadi has grown up so fast! I didn't even need to take a stroller or diaper bag on this trip. I almost felt free! I loved the break and enjoying our time together.
Carriage Ride Through Central Park 9 of 16
McKenzie couldn't wait to take a carriage ride through Central Park. She said she felt like a princess and really took in every second. It is still one of her favorite parts about the trip. My Grandmother loved it too! It was so much fun to play tourist because usually I am in the city for work.
Oh, The Cupcakes 10 of 16
The custom cupcakes from Magnolia's Bakery that greeted us in the hotel room was of course, one of the girls favorite parts. They perfect matched their favorite books and smelled so yummy! They tasted just as good.
The Dakota 11 of 16
Zoe had waited so long to finally stand in front of The Dakota, for those of you who are John Lennon fans, I am sure you understand why. She loved feeling right in the middle of history.
Strawberry Fields 12 of 16
After The Dakota we had to head over to Strawberry Fields. I loved being able to see the Imagine memorial since I never had the chance to make it over there when I was in New York. It was such a special moment to see the two older girls really get excited over it and play tourist. They truly had so much fun just people watching and taking pictures.

Zoe is Ready to Move 15 of 16
Zoe is so ready to move to New York. As a huge fan of The Beatles, she has researched John Lennon until she can talk about him in her sleep. She was so excited to see The Dakota and Strawberry Fields, it was the only thing she wanted to do the entire trip. Besides gaze over Central Park from our amazing view!

Between my Grandmother, my Mom, myself and the girls -- it's so amazing to be able to have four generations together. I felt so lucky to be able to have my Grandmother and Mom enjoy the weekend with us.
