2011 – Pregnancy, Birth and Baby

2011, a year to remember.

2011, a year to remember.

Isn’t it crazy how fast time flies?

Just 12 months ago, we found out that we were expecting. Even though I spent a large part of the year pregnant, it was all worth it.

2011 will go down as a year to remember. My life was forever changed.

Here’s a look back at how our lives changed forever by pregnancy, birth and baby Zeke:

    January 2011
I had taken a pregnancy test and was in disbelief that the positive pregnancy test, was indeed positive. After a trip to the OBGYN, and seeing an ultrasound with little moving arms and legs - I knew our 2011 would be more than we thought it would be. Yep, I was most definitely pregnant.

    February 2011
In February, I spent the month traveling for work and crying.. No morning sickness, just crazy pregnancy cravings. lots of tears and a belly that was protruding.

    March 2011
I started blogging my pregnancy on Babble's Being Pregnant blog. It was such a great experience to be able to capture every pregnant moment digitally.
Our third child, Izaiah turned 1 in March. Pregnant with a 1 year old, not advisable.

    April 2011
About this time, I totally got sick of pregnancy. I realized I had been pregnant a total of 145 weeks.

    May 2011
This part of pregnancy was the long stretch. We still didn't know the sex of the baby, thinking we'd keep it a surprise. We tried prepping our kids for the new baby. I was busy planning maternity leave. Who knew, I would end up quitting my job!
  • June 2011 6 of 12
    June 2011
We live in Texas. June was the start of many many days of 100 degree weather. I landed in the hospital dehydrated.
If you can avoid being pregnant in Texas during the summer, do.

    July 2011
July, it hit me. 38 weeks pregnant, I realized "oh crap, I'm really having a 4th child."
My grandfather passed away. It was an emotional month. Hell, it was emotional year.
  • August 2011 8 of 12
    August 2011
And just like that. The baby I had been growing, decided to be born. Zeke arrived August 3rd changing our lives forever.
  • September 2011 9 of 12
    September 2011
As much as we love this little baby, not everyone took so easily to him. Sibling rivalry took over our toddler. Postnatal insomnia kicked in. Sadly, I don't think that's ever really went away.
  • October 2011 10 of 12
    October 2011
Little Zeke was the growing baby in October. His looks changed, he put on some weight and slept through the night each night.
It was a great month that ended with him dressing up as Baby Steve Jobs for Halloween.
  • November 2011 11 of 12
    November 2011
At the 3 month mark, life returned to normal in our house, but with the addition of a new cutie.
  • December 2011 12 of 12
    December 2011
Despite starting off the month with croup, we ended the year with a bang. Our not so perfect Christmas completed the year.

Life happens in an instant. Those long days of pregnancy are gone. Terrible nights with a crying baby, no long exist. These are reminders that I need to be present, enjoy each day and make memories.

May your 2012 be the best year ever for you. Enjoy it. 2013 will be here before you know it.
