5 Lessons My Daughter Has Taught Me

I could just eat her!

I never thought in all my life I would be the mother of a little girl. When we learned Addison was in fact a her I cried tears of joy on video and laughed hysterically as my husband had the ultrasound tech double, and triple check.

The pregnancy taught me a lot, and her birth taught me even more. About myself, life, my body, the list goes on. But now as I sit here only 6 days away from her first birthday I am looking at all the deeper lessons she has taught me. Not only just as a mother, but as a woman, a daughter and a human.

I am sure as she continues to grow she will be able to teach me so much more than just the simple stuff too. She is such a bright spirit and she certainly is going to take right after her big brothers.

She is already a huge clown.
She has a smile that could brighten up the darkest day.
And a laugh that could just melt you into a puddle of mush right where you stand.

Ok all the sappy stuff to the side… now all the things she has taught me!

A Smile is Worth a Thousand Words
I can't even imagine how many words I have written about this little girl over the past year. She has made me know how truly priceless she is and how much of a blessing every single smile of hers is.
I don't know what I would do without her!

    Be Anything!
She can be anything... I can be anything... anyone can be anything if they put their mind to it. Since I found out I was pregnant with her, she has given me so much, and I hope that some day she is able to reach her own dreams!

    It is OK to Cry!
In the past year I have probably cried more than any other year. Tears of sadness, happiness, joy, sorrow. Anything. And no matter what I have gone through there has been the comfort of this beautiful little girl letting me know that everything is going to be ok, and that there is so much to be thankful for in our lives.

    I Am Loved
No matter what, Addison has taught me I am loved. We all have our difficult parenting moments when we think we are failing as a mother, but no matter what our children love us. Know that always!

    Miracles Happen
Miracles happen all the time. In the end of my pregnancy I had a number of problems. In the end I had something called IUGR or intrauterine growth restriction which is sometimes detected after a stillbirth. When I learned that I realized how lucky I was for a healthy baby girl. She is my small miracle.
