Those first few weeks with a newborn are basically an endless cycle of eating and sleeping for both baby and mom. And then somewhere around the one month mark, newborns become babies who are actually — gasp — awake!
When my little guy started being awake more and more, I had no idea what to do with him. I already shared my 10 Newborn Essentials for Mom & Baby, and now I thought I would show you five things my 5-week-old baby is loving!
Boppy Newborn Lounger Pillow 1 of 5My sister told me that her baby loved this, and I am kicking myself for waiting a month to order one. This is probably our most used baby item outside of things like clothing and diapers. I can put it anywhere -- couch, table, counter -- and he can sit right next to me. It's so convenient, and has given me so much freedom to be able to occasionally set him down.
Car Seat Dangle Toys 2 of 5So even after 5 weeks, my little guy still HATES the car seat. I avoid car trips if at all possible because the hassle and screaming just never feels worth it. The only thing that has helped so far are a few dangle toys to distract him and make him a little less angry.
Bamboo Blankets 3 of 5I have drawers filled with blankets, but every time I need one, I find myself reaching for my Aden + Anais Bamboo Blankets. They are so soft and versatile! My favorite use is to put one in between my chest and my baby when he's in the Ergo carrier -- the soft fabric is much better against his skin than my scratchy sweaters!
Baby Carriers 4 of 5I've talked about babywearing before, and my little guy continues to love it. Besides my Ergo and Moby wrap, I just ordered a Balboa sling! I can't stop babywearing!
A Playmat 5 of 5Right around 4 weeks, my baby started looking around a lot more and spending long stretches of time awake and alert. Worried that he was bored or under-stimulated, I started pulling out his playmat. He LOVES it, and we play on it every night before bed now as part of our routine.
What things did your baby love around this time??
