7 Must-Have Baby Products

We are almost eight months into this baby raising business, and we have learned a thing or two. We bought a lot of things and were given even more, and for the most part we find most baby gear pretty superfluous. (Except for the following, of course.)

  • Aden + Anais Swaddling Blankets 1 of 7
    Aden + Anais Swaddling Blankets
You may remember me fawning over these blankets soon after Tate was born. Not only do they work so well for swaddling, but they are multifunctional. Not to mention that in heat and humidity they are one of the lightest options around.

  • Skip Hop Pronto Changing Station 2 of 7
    Skip Hop Pronto Changing Station
I wrote an ode to this product when Tate was brand new, and my feelings haven't changed. I anticipate using this thing as long as Tate is in diapers.

  • Boppy Nursing Pillow 3 of 7
    Boppy Nursing Pillow
Having a nursing pillow is the only way I got any work done in our first few months with Tate. I was able to nurse Tate and have my hands free for writing on the computer.

  • Cradle or Bassinet 4 of 7
    Cradle or Bassinet
I can't image having a brand new baby in another room. I was so grateful not to have to drag myself across the house every time Tate woke in the night those first few months (before we started co-sleeping).

  • Baby Rear View Mirror 5 of 7
    Baby Rear View Mirror
I asked you readers for some advice on baby rear view mirrors early on. I am so glad we went ahead and got one. I love that I can see what Tate is up to and whether he has dropped off to sleep. Unfortunately the model we bought (and love) is no long for sale. Try this similar option instead.

  • Changing Pad 6 of 7
    Changing Pad
Before we had Tate, I didn't see the point of any kind of changing table. I planned to just change diapers on whatever surface was nearest. Someone gifted us a changing pad which we placed on a dresser, and we never looked back. It's so nice to have some reprieve from all the bending and hunching that can accompany parenthood.

  • Moby Baby Wrap 7 of 7
    Moby Baby Wrap
I have sung the praises of my moby wrap more times than I can count. It is my absolute favorite baby product. My life as a mother would not be the same without it. Every mom NEEDS a baby carrier.
