A Milestone I'm Thrilled to Sleep Through

Just one day shy of Paul’s eighth week of life, (which reminds me, we have his two month checkup tomorrow scheduled for tomorrow morning) he did what no baby in this house has ever done at his age.

He gave his mommy the greatest gift a baby could give.

No, not a first smile. And no, he didn’t roll over or poke a tooth out of his gums (which his sister did do at 2 months old)

Honestly, what Paul did last night was simply amazing, and it almost brings me to tears just thinking about it.

Every morning, before my husband heads out the door to work, he comes by my side of the bed and gives me a kiss goodby (I know, so very sweet). He always is sure to asks: How did Paul sleep?

My normal response is: I fed him before I went to bed around 11pm, then again around 3:30, then again at 5:30am.

But this morning was different. When Michael asked me about how the baby slept, I had to think twice. When did I feed him? When was I up? Did I play “draw something” on my iPhone with anyone in the middle of the night? (side note: I’m addicted to that game, my “draw something” name is designhermomma.)

OH. MY. NO. I did not wake up with Paul last night.

Friends, my baby slept through the night for the very first time! And yes, when I realized what had happened, I panicked and took a leap out of bed to check on him, just to make sure he was still breathing, which he was.

My baby is growing up. He slept through the night, and it was the best milestone ever.

Now let’s see if we can’t just rewind and repeat again tonight…

How about your baby? When did they first sleep through the night?
