A Very Autumnal Outing With Baby

A Very Autumnal Outing With Baby | via Lauren Hartmann at BabbleFall is my absolute favorite season. I love the weather, the colors, the coziness and all the wonderful opportunities for fun traditions (I’m a sucker for those too!). As such, I couldn’t wait to introduce my baby to my very favorite season and get her involved in one of my most favorite fall traditions: apple tasting. Every year for the past few years my mom and I have gone to the annual apple tasting event at the Portland Nursery (it’s going on next weekend too, so if you live in Portland Oregon you should check it out). There are more than 50 varieties of apples to try and buy and tons of fun activities for kids which we’ve never actually gotten to participate in until now. I could hardly wait, so my mom and I along with Fern’s cousin Karly all headed out for an apple-ing adventure this weekend!

See the photos after the jump!

Since we were at at nursery filled with plants we obviously had to stop to pose by the ferns since they are my little Fern's namesake. Double ferns!

There truly were apples as far as the eye could see. My favorite varieties were the Elstar and the Brock. I shared a little piece of every apple with Fern and she was pretty pleased with them all. Anytime there's food she's a happy girl.

Of course I joined in on the fun!

Karly got to make these slightly healthier versions of cupcakes...all the frosting and sprinkle toppings piled on an apple. Fern wanted some frosting...not yet though!

There was a little pumpkin painting station, but since Fern is a little too young for painting just yet, we skipped the painting and I just let her pick a pumpkin.

    A winner!
This is the little pumpkin she picked. My husband and I have a tradition of always choosing pumpkins that are shaped like us in the fall and Fern inadvertently followed suit by picking this tiny little pumpkin that looks rather like her tiny little self.

Of course an autumnal outing with a cutely dressed baby would be incomplete without some super posey photos.

I think this is the most photo opps I've had with Fern maybe ever, but it's nice to be in some of the photos since I'm usually the one behind the camera. A fun day was had by all and I can hardly wait for next fall when Fern will be a little older and will appreciate the outing even more!
